Level 1 - Intro to Long Form Improv
An introduction to the basic skills of long-form improvisation – actively listening and co-operating with team mates, “yes-and", the freedom to play and be spontaneous, and an introduction to improvised scene work. Choose from available dates below.
Description
In this course you will:
- Learn how to apply the principles of ‘yes and’ to your improvisation
- Improvise a whole scene from a single word inspiration
- Learn and practise space work
- Learn about the importance of commitment in scenes
- Gain confidence to perform an improvised scene from start to finish
Just so you know, our teachers assess the most beneficial placement for each student's progress so you may be asked to retake a course. Don’t worry, we still think you’re great, but it’s crucial to nail the skills in each level before moving on. That way you can hit the ground running and have more fun in your next class (and get a lovely big discount!).
Prerequisites
There is no prerequisite for this course; anyone can join regardless of previous experience. If you have done a little improv before but not much long-form, it is recommended to start here.
